Autumn Trends & How To Wear Them
Autumn Trends & How To Wear Them – 02/10/2023
KEY AUTUMN TRENDS
This new season is characterised by shades of brown, winter florals, pleats, a touch of metallic and a slash of red.
BROWN & UNDERSTATED NEUTRALS
Brown is the new black it seems so dress like your favourite chocolate bar. For the quiet luxury trends choose a neutral palette from head to toe in caramel, brown, winter cream or grey.
PLEATS
Pleated skirts accessorised with oversized jumpers is definitely a vibe but be careful of oversized knits if you are top heavy - the fabric drapes from your chest which can make you look bigger overall. Best to find a way to mark out your waist and with statement belts having a moment, that should be no problem!
METALLIC
Silver, molten gold, sequins and sparkle are not just for evening wear. Metallics and shimmer are very much present in the domain of day wear for AW23. Try a silver mini skirt or pencil skirt with an oversized grey knit or there are quite a few silver trousers on the high street which would look great with a cream knit for day wear. For those that just want to dip their toe in the trend, try a silver ankle boot, court shoe or cowboy boot with your denims.
RED ALERT
While fuchsia pink is still enjoying its barbie moment, red is set to be the shade for autumn winter. You don’t have to wear it head to toe – add a nod to it with a red bag or a shoe with a monochrome outfit to up the style stakes. Coloured tights are a micro trend so you could opt for red tights to your look and off two trends at once.
MESH & SHEER
Mesh dresses and tops and sheer dresses are making an appearance for the brave. Where dresses are totally sheer, big pants and bandeau bras are your best friend - or opt for a double layered mesh top or skirt for a more opaque look. You can also layer knits, skirts and waistcoat over your mesh base layer for a softer take on the trend.
BIG SCARFS
Giant scarfs that double up as outer wear are definitely in and as the temperatures drop, we’ll embrace the cosy extra layer.
