Buttercrane Lose Access to Social Media Audience
Buttercrane Centre Lose 65k Social Following
Buttercrane Shopping Centre, Newry has lost access to its social media audience of 65k, following an issue arising from paid for Facebook Advertising placed by their Belfast-based Advertising Agency.
Centre Manager Peter Murray says it is a frustrating process and slammed the social media giant for its complete lack of customer service or support to address what he describes as, “the unfair suspension of our pages ”.
He explains: “At the start of October, META (formerly known as Facebook) suspended our Facebook and Buttercrane Instagram pages, pending review, as a result of a Facebook Ad placed by our appointed Advertising Agency.
“The Facebook Ad was part of a Value Campaign, and our agency has been running that format for almost a year with no issues. The agency invests a significant amount with META annually, on behalf of a number of Irish clients, and has raised a complaint with the Information Commissioner.
“Despite their significant spend with META, it took the Agency team, two weeks to secure an in-person call with a META representative. The agency was advised in previous correspondence, that Buttercrane channels were ‘in a queue for reinstatement’ as the issue was not related to any of the organic activity on the pages. However, a month has passed and our appeals, requests and demands for answers have fallen on deaf ears.”
“The lack of response from META Account Managers - despite repeated attempts - mean we have lost confidence in the process. As it’s so close to the critical Christmas retail period, and we are holding a number of time sensitive campaigns, reluctantly we’ve taken the decision to launch new pages,” Peter adds.
The Buttercrane team are appealing to local people to show support by following the new pages www.facebook.com/Buttercranecentre and @Buttercrane.Centre on Instagram.
“The Facebook channel is where we will launch our Santa Visit booking link, as well as event information for Santa Arrival, Christmas competitions etc so we are looking to our local audience to help us to rebuild our following,” Peter adds.
