Post Lockdown Fashion Trends – 07/08/2020
As we are released from Lockdown ..What do consumers want to buy is the question retailers need to address? But what are the key trends we expect to see?
Periods of reflection often lead to nostalgia and in fashion terms experts points to 70s inspired looks as the likely resting place of fashion nostalgia post COVID. Earthy shades and relaxed denims of the 70s are appealing and sports Lux is definitely going to make itself seen in new fashion collections. From the ‘dressy’ jogger to soft, comfortable fabrics in ‘zoomable prints’ - we’d expect to see that making an appearance
The Face Mask is now the ultimate accessory in a range of bespoke prints – but let’s not forget antibacterial fabrics – the new holy grail of leisure wear.
More time spent at home, means more money being spent on ‘home wear’ so throw on dresses, luxury pjs, non-wired underwear in organic cotton and easy to wash fabrics will form a key element in new collections.
As we move into AW20, leisure wear will see a major elevation.
Minimalism was (experts say) set to make a comeback and the time couldn’t be more right – choosing simpler styles and silhouettes, better quality fabrics with a timeless design, it’s all going to be about investment and future proofing.
Buyers will go back to basics with good quality pieces that aren’t following trends per say – well cut blazers, good quality denim, slip dresses, the essential white shirt or crisp white t-shirt will be likely to be most sought after.
During COVID crisis and subsequent lock down, comfort dictated spend and it’s likely to be a trend that will continue. ‘Zoom dressing’, the increase in demand for active wear will continue to dictate consumer purchases into early 2021 the fashion watchers predict.
