Buttercrane Supports #BoysNeedBins Campaign
Buttercrane Supports #BoysNeedBins Campaign – 01/03/2025
NI Washrooms in association with Cancer Focus NI is promoting the #boysneedbins initiative – a UK wide campaign to raise awareness of the need for hygiene bins in the male toilets.
With 1 in 8 men being diagnosed with prostate cancer, 1 in 25 men aged over 40 experiencing some form of urinary leakage every year and 1 in 20 men aged 60 and over experiencing bowel incontinence in the UK, there is a clear need to provide a suitable means of waste disposal in male toilets.
In association with NI Washrooms, Buttercrane is the first Shopping Centre in NI to supporting the #boysneedbins campaign and provide hygiene bins in male toilets.
Men who need to dispose of their sanitary waste (including incontinence pads, pouches, stoma, catheter, colostomy, ileostomy waste by-products) often have no direct access to a sanitary bin in male toilets. New bins will be installed this month to Buttercrane Male Bathrooms.
Centre Manager Peter Murray said Buttercrane was delighted to support this ‘forward thinking campaign’. “We were one of the first Centre’s in Northern Ireland to introduce a Changing Places facility to our disabled toilets, following customer feedback and this is another important new initiative which we are proud to support. The addition of hygiene bins to our male bathroom adds to our award-winning facilities and ensures privacy and respect for all our customer needs,” Mr Murray adds.
